Short in OD / rear defrost circuit 200 1989

89 240DL B230F 250K kilometers

Hi All,

While driving on the highway this morning, my overdrive suddently kicked OFF.
It would not go back on. The shift light was illuminated.

History has always been very trouble-free in OD and trouble free electricals...

Looking through the fuses, fuse 11 supplies OD and rear defrost. It was blown.
I shut off the car, replaced it with another 16A, as soon as the key went into ON position it burned right away. Short?

I am thinking OD relay, since relays are common problems hear, but never heard of a relay actually shorting, usually it is an intermittent function due to cold solder joints. Note my rear defrost was not ON during my drive.

Any other possible areas that can cause this short?

Thanks!
Greg Mustang
