airbox mod question 700

I was thinking about doing an airbox mod. Why is that spoon scoop faced towards the fan blade wouldnt it be better if it was facing towards the grill between the headlights, or is it better the how it is, anybody who can help it would be appreciated and tips on doing simple mods for better airflow would also be appreciated thanks
