how many wiring harnesses does it take to....? 200 1980

how many wiring harnesses are in a 240? I thought I could replace the engine harness and solve the glitches showing up all over the car but now it sounds like there are harnesses everywhere. Just curious. thanks.

BTW, sounds like the main engine harness tends to go bad even if you can't see it - maybe I need to go ahead and replace it.
