I bought a 1983 DL with 92K and Chrysler ignition on it about ten years ago. I noticed then that when I was accelerating in 2nd and even 3rd gear going uphill, there was a slight hesitancy to the engine. I changed out absolutely everything over a ten-year period trying to find the source--plugs, relays, anti-knock sensor, new ignition wires, even a completely new wiring harness (the back engine lifting bracket sawed into the main electrical bundle). But no matter what I did, new ignition wires, rotor, cap, etc., that hesitancy was always with me. If I really tuned it up, new timing belt, etc., it wasn't so noticeable. But as it neared servicing, the hesitancy was quite noticeable, as if one valve or one injector wasn't quite doing its job. But if it had been a burned valve at 92K, by 250K there wouldn't have been a question. But I've checked the valves, they were all within tolerances, changed out injectors, still there. The car started out with 92K on it, now has 250K. Before I retire it to the Salvation Army or wherever, I would like to know the ten years of frustration I've had trying to find that source. I suspect maybe it is the worethless Chrysler ignition, rather than the Bosch which other models had, but I really don't think so. Any ideas?
