Rough Automatic Transmission, during acceleraiton 700

My 91 740 has begun to feel really rough as acceleration starts. It disappears
very quickly. This happens after it has been warmed up. It happens during all stop and go driving. I find this 740 to provide a very smooth ride and since I got it for a good price (no wise cracks) I'd like to keep it for winters like the one I'm in now. Omaha, 30 inches and cold cold cold. These transmissions seem to be quit available around here if replacement is needed. Fluids are up to date but not certain about filters and the like.
Any advice as to tips or even bad news if thats what I deserve.
