CD player install & Radio problems 900

I have a couple of problems that I need some help with.
First the battery in the car died trying to start the car @-30F and the radio lost power, so it ask for the code. My radio was replaced, so I had two codes to enter. Some how when I entered one of the numbers the radio now displays "OFF". The local Volvo dealer is not real sure how to reset the radio, I have pulled the fuses - no good. They suggested turning the ignition to the first position with the radio off for two hours - no good and I tried two hours with the radio on - did not work either. Any suggestions?

The second is that my wife purchased a Volvo CD playeras a birthday gift, but the car was not prewired for the player although the radio does have a CD button on it. Any places to purchase the cable from, the closest Volvo dealer is an hour away. The local car stero places say that it has to be an OEM part.
If it don't say Honda, Mitsubishi, or VW and have little wheels I think they are lost.

How does the radio come out? I have tried a long skinny screw driver, but does it go out up or down? Or do I need a hook to pull with?

Any help will be deeply appreciated.
