1990 740 Turbo Wagon strut mount corrosion? 700 1990

Hello. Am new to this forum, and looking to buy a 740 Wagon. There is one, a 1990 Turbo, that I am particularly interested in, but the current owner says that he broke the left front strut mount when he hit a pothole. Says it was corroded and that is why it broke. His mechanic told him that the right strut mount was almost gone too, so he replaced both strut mounts and struts within the last year.

Is this a sign of something serious wrong with the car, like lurking corrosion? Or can this happen to the 740 series due to the metal that the strut mount is made of (i.e. means that if I buy the car I should pay attention to the condition of the strut mount.)? Or should I stay away from this car?

Thanks for reading/helping.
