More car trouble

Never really completely fixed my original problem, but am able to live with it until it warms up here in NE PA. My symptom is still hard starting, usually two long cranks, and still get a stumble on a sharp right turn. Garage door spring broke friday night, so am parking outside for a while. Went outside this morning @ 430am to go to work, 14 degrees, car won't start. Had a conversation about two weeks ago with a buddy who works on mostly american cars, and I explained to him what I replaced in the Fuel Injection area. He thought I checked everything there and the FI system should be ok, but now to check out the ignition system. He talked of coil packs that work with the distribuator in american cars and if you have weak coil packs you have a tough time starting a car when cold out. Is the ignition power stage mounted on the firewall the same as a coil pack, and will they cause problems starting when it's cold out? The car has been starting when it's warmer, like no colder than 32 degrees. TIA as always,

Bob
