Thermal Time Switch/Mystery Wire?? 200 1987

Looking at the wiring harness photo below:

There is a wire on the left side labeled "Thermal Time Switch" and my 87 245 seems to have this wire, coming out of the driver's side firewall. The wire is not plugged into anything at all, and I have always wondered if maybe it should be. The connector has two little tabs on either side which look like they're supposed to help keep the connector in place. I've craned my head and looked around under the intake manifold for places to plug it in, but haven't had much success. The car seems to be running fine, but I just can't help but wonder if this wire goes somewhere and needs to be plugged back in. Can anyone help? The wire seems to share a portion of the harness with another wire that controls the AC compressor, and that's connected just fine.
