740 power antenna motor 700 1988

The power antenna on my 745 doesn't operate and is stuck in the extended position. Everything in the 700 FAQ relates to replacing the mast but not the motor itself - if the antenna mast is bent (as mine is) so the motor can't retract it, shouldn't I still hear the motor trying to retract the antenna when I turn off the radio? I don't hear the motor operating at all. Is there anything I should look for beyond the obvious blown fuse or bad electrical connections at the motor? Thanks
