I lost my Speedo Cable... 700

In my 760 Wagon I installed a Boost gauge. In the process I had to disconnect the dash to get access to the vacuum line that goes into the stock gauge. Anyway After I reconnected the wires It seems that I lost the one that connects to the Speedometer. I search around in the cavity for around two hours and gave up...Does the thing disapeer when you disconect it? Where could it have gone? Anyone know a way I could find it again without blindly grabbing?
