CRACK IN MY EXHAUST PIPE/MANIFOLD AREA 200 1986

I found a crack in my exhaust pipe located between the heat shield down near the bend just before the catalytic converter that's causing an exhaust leak. Short of replacing that section, does anyone think that the putty stuff that becomes as hard as metal can be formed into the crack (not wide or long) or if anyone can think of anything else to do to seal the crack. I think I flexed that part when I replace the entire exhaust system behind the coverter a couple of months ago.

Thanks........xraybob.
