try brasso 200

Try Brasso polish... it's about 2 bucks for a lifetime supply of headlight cleaning. probably works similarly to rubbing compound, for all I know. but it seemed to make a pretty big difference on my 14 yr. old lenses. and a world of difference on the plastic lenses for a 91 ford escort (not mine!). I read about this on the swedespeed forum. haven't seen it anywhere else.

i'd try to exhaust all cheap cleaning/polishing methods before springing for new plastic.
good luck.
