Ever find an ambient temperature gauge (F.)? 200 1990

Radio Shack sells a $15 ambient air temperature gauge. It includes a voltmeter, so you get two data points for one price. Sure, it doesn't look OEM, if you care about cosmetics. It's black, and about 1-inch high by 3-inches long, reads indoor and outdoor temp. The sensor wire is about ten feet long. I ran the sensor through the firewall orifice and attached it with zip ties near the horn, to get temp near wheel wells. Power comes from either AAA battery, or cig lighter adapter from car's 12 v system. I cut that wire and hard wired into the fuse panel. Up here in the north country we get a lot of freezing -- or colder -- weather. It's nice to know when you're approaching freeze point for black ice potential, etc. I have a dash-mounted compass, too, further emphasizing that gauge fetish mirrors middle-agedness. Unless you're into engine performance gauges, which simultaneously measure hormone levels. chris in vermont 244, 765, 940, r100rs, etc.
