wind shield wiper wiring 200

my 87 240 started blowing fuses on the 2 slot
thats the wiper motor
so I shorted the fuse with a bolt
it got very hot quickly
and the large yellow wire to the wiper motor started to melt

so I cut that yellow wire near the wiper
now the wipers work without blowing fuses
but the wipers donot PARK ie stop all the way down
is that all the yellow wire does??
any other problems from just leaving it cut
or other ideas or suggestions
