stiff accelerator 1991 245

i recently purchased a 1991 245 and have noticed that the accelerator is very stiff. I have to press it hard in order to get the car to move. I used to own a 1990 740 and dont recall ever the accelerator as being so hard.

is this normal for a 240 or is there something wrong?

any help is appreciated
