Factory CAT. replacement pipe. 200 1983

I have owned both the 1983 and 1984 240 with B23F engine.

The 1983 has the "separate cat" and a pipe from the cat to the front muffler. The 1984 has the "cat with pipe" where the cat and pipe to front muffler are all one piece.

Part no. for 1983 car in my book is: 1276548-3. For the pipe to the front muffler use 1306836-6, named "adapter".

The one piece system is part nmuber 3531403. You could use it, but would have to get it fitted into the front muffler (a PITA for me). Or cut the pipe on the cat and the pipe into the front muffler and connect the new cat to the old pipe with an adapter from - like - AutoZone. Size that slips over the cat pipe and into the front muffler pipe.

Using the right cat with the two gaskets is a lot easier.

Good Luck,

Bob
