Need Advice on Installing Crankshaft Seal 200 1989

My questions are: is this seal in deep enough? What can I use to install the seal without breaking it?

I'm having trouble installing a new crankshaft seal. Here's the photo of where I'm at

Basically, The area on the engine that holds the crankshaft is 14 mm deep. My seal is 10 mm deep. I can't push the seal in any further; the extra space between the outer edge of the seal and the engine worries me (also note the small crack on top of the edge of the engine-seal interface I created when trying to remove the old seaL). I'm wondering if the seal is in deep enough. This is my second attempt at installing the seal (put the first one in too deep and leaked oil).
