radio amplifier 200 1991

I would like to replace the cassette stereo head unit (Sony) that the previous owner had installed in the upper dash position in my 1991 non-turbo 240. I want to be sure that the amp for the factory rear speakers is taken out of the wiring loop but I can't find the amp in any of the under dash locations that I have searched. Does anyone know exactly where the factory amp was originally located on this specific model and year, or a way to verify that it is no longer connected?
