Final Knock Sensor Question 200

Ok, so i want to try this idea. Remove my knock sensor and plug it in to my friends car with out attaching it to the block. Basicly the guy doesnt want me to take anything off of his car, and I don't blame him. Anywho, will the computer pick up the knock sensor as working if it is not on the physically block? I mean how could it know for sure, unless it purposly makes the engine ping, but I don't think it's that smart. So what do you guys think, good idea? Bad Idea?

Thanks for your help,
Blake
