Do new rotors need to be turned? 200 1978

Hello all
The other day I did a 4 wheel brake job on my wifes 88 245. I took the rotors up to goodyear to have them turned. Unfortunately the rear set was to thin so They sold me another set. Yes, I paid to much. I asked them to turn the new ones just in case and he looked at me funny, but after thinking a second he seemed to think it was a good idea to "test" for warpage. I asked them to do this because of somthing that happened in the past with drum brakes. (long story). Now my car needs front rotors and I am getting them elsewhere.
My question is should the new rotors be turned just in case, or am I just being anal?
