Going to put cone air filter on 740, but what to do with side hose? 700

Hi all! I'm going to put on a cone filter on my 740, but I have a slight concern. On the left side of the OEM airbox is a hose that runs to the engine. This is not the main intake hose and from what I've read, I've been led to believe it is a Warm Air Intake, for inital morning starts.

I live in the Miami area where the temperature never gets below 45F and averages 75-90F, so I don't see why I'd need this hose???

I'd like to remove it but what should I do about the open port on the engine where the hose connects to? If it is vital, how would I go about it as I have my mind set on putting in a cone air filter.

Another question, I noticed this hose leads to the intake manifold, don't automobiles with "risers" (I believe thats the correct term???)usually have them hooked into the exhaust manifold?

Thanks a bunch!
