All those CD-ROM Volvo 'Manuals' 700

I have an '88 740 N/A sedan that I maintain regularly, if not religiously. To help me keep my car going, I'm always looking for information to supplement my Haynes book, my Chilton book, and, of course, Brickboard. From time to time, I cruise various web sites, such as eBay, in search of this information. Lately I've noticed that any eBay search for something like "Volvo 740 manual" results in an avalanche of people selling various kinds of shop manuals in the form of computer CD's. I've never actually bought one of these, but I'm bombarded with them so heavily that I have considered trying one out to see if it's worth anything. I'm skeptical, though, about how valuable some little computer disc could be for maintaining and repairing a car. I get the sense that most or all of what's being auctioned are rip-offs, but I honestly don't know for sure. Maybe someone who has bought these products or knows something about them can offer some guidance about which, if any, are worth the money. Thanks.
