Bilstein HD Struts Fitment Question 200

Hi Guys,

I am now installing a set of Bilstein HD struts in the front of my 1993 240. The struts seem a tad tight when I insert them into the tube. They slide in ok, but snug, just about to the last 1.5 inches or so, and then get a bit more snug. I can rotate it in the tube by hand but am unsure whether to push further to seat them in and tighten the large retaining nut -- fearing I may never get them out. Anybody else ever had this situation ? Interior of the tube is clean. Should I spray the interior of the tube and the exterior of the strut with silicone or some other dry lube ?

Thanks, as always.

Mike
