Good thought. Have never looked into it, but: you could check clearance, use your broken console as a form (break it to fit) and use an expanable foam and sandwich the new and the ol; or use some of that liquid wood ( Mr. Max.....hardware or paint stores carry it). You can make it into a paste and just smear it on the inside/ run beads to reinforce. I would guess that anything that will stick, would help to reinforce. Just make sure you have the clearance so evrything works.

Just a thought.
