What Size Rivets for Floor Repair? 200

What size rivets would be best for a floor pan repair? My car has rust damage on the passenger side rear floor right by the outside edge where water leaked in over the years from plugged rocker panel drain holes. I'm planning to patch a rusted-through/rusty area by grinding away the bad corrosion, killing whatever rust remains, and riveting a piece of galvanized sheet metal over the top of the damaged area. I'm buying a rivet gun, but I don't know what size rivets to order with it. The overlayed piece of galvanized sheet metal will be 17 inches by 3 inches. Any advice about the job would be appreciated.
