What the?! entire front wheel well saturated with oil? 200

Yet there is none on the wheel or tire? oil is dripping from both ends of the wheel (front drivers side). either I drove through an oil puddle or a strut blew up or something, haven't noticed any difference in driving performance. I have been postponing getting that front strut checked out due to a popping noise during low speed sharp turns (upper strut mount or something). Help I just have no idea what could spread oil like this without evidence of where it came from. Again there is nothing on the tire or the wheel itself as far as I can see. Popped the hood and the engine compartment looks like it always did. Hopefully one of you fellow brickers can make me feel stupid by knowing the answer to this.

Cheers
