Flywheel and timing 200 1987

fellow bricksters:

after a few months of minor fixes and reading brickboard posts I have a sneaking suspicion that my brick's lack of performance and feul economy is a result of a misaligned flywheel (replaced in the fall) leading to mis-timing of the engine. If this is the case, is heavy machinery required to re-align the flywheel? If not, is this a simple fix? Thanks in advance for any input
