Orange paint and side chrome 140-160

THere is no original orange for a '68... I think the first year was either '73 or '74. I agree though that there ain't enough orange cars out there, so yea... go for it!

As for the trim... I'm not sure if the little trim ridge is wider on teh later 240s to accept wider trim... if its the same, it should work. You might need to cut peices if they aren't just right, but that shouldn't be a big deal. I *think* that trim you mention is held on with just adhesive, but I'm not sure.

Point of caution though.... you talk of removing the dash and all... man that's getting into a big project for a car that will never be worth a whole lot. Go ahead and pull the trim, lights, windows if you are ambitious. But yanking the dash for a paint job seems a bit excessive to me if that's the only reason...
