Should I buy a Volvo????

I currently have an older Mercedes (W124 serie). After having owned the car for 11 years and seeing the mileage (close to 300K), and spring approaching, I am looking for a younger car. The Benz has been basically trouble free, rock solid, reliable with great mpg.
Having owned several Volvo's in the past (PV544, P1800, 123GT, 144, 850T), the 960/S90 series seems very attractive (1996 and up)
Could you pls. tell me all you know about this model:
Problem areas, what to check and double check before buying, reliability,trouble areas, maintenance costs, mpg and more. Thanks
