945t auto transmission rebuild??!!! 900

Hi All,

I posted here a couple days ago about hard shifting and problems with reverse. I took the car to a tranmission shop to have a complete flush and filter change (per suggestions on this site.) The mechanic soon called me and said he would not take my money, as the clutches were bad - requiring a minimum of $1,400 in work. Now, I am shocked as the car only has 116K miles on it and all I have read is how good these trannies are. The fluid is very dirty - so I find it hard to believe that a flush would not help things. Any one else have similar problems - should I get a second opinion?
