help - problem starting when cold 700

Hello -

My 1992 740 non-turbo wagon 130k miles (regina system) has a problem starting when cold - seems to be worse when outside temp is low (20-40 degrees). Here's what happens:

Upon cranking the engine, car will start right away, but barely runs and shakes badly like only running on three cylinders. If any gas is applied with the pedal, the car will stall and it becomes even more difficult to start. I have to start the vehicle, let it idle poorly until it seems to catch after 20-30 seconds and idles normally.

This problem has been getting progressively worse (has been happening in warmer and warmer temps lately)

Any ideas on where to start?

Thanks
