First of all I want to thank the people who responded to my posts last week and told me that my 1987 740 GLE needed an engine wiring harness. The wiring harness has been replaced and the temperature sensor was also replaced. The car is running much better; however I have a couple of other concerns:
1- The Service Engine light comes on upon starting the car and stays on for a little while. What could be causing this? Does it need to be reset and if so how?
2- The temperature gauge points to the one o'clock position when fully warm. This morning I drove 1 mile to meet my car pool and the gauge was at that position and the ambient temperature was in the mid 40s. Is this indicative of a defective sensor? The coolant looks fresh.
Thank You in advance for your help.
Jorge
