Should I replace my radiator? '95 960 900 1995

I bought a '95 960 recently on ebay.
I love it so far but don't know anything about the previos history.
Reading this website has me a little freaked about the radiator since I will be taking some long trips this summer.
I've read on this site that after 8 years the radiator should be replaced....no questions asked.
Well....I'm asking.
Before I blow a lot of $$$ is there anyway to tell if it has already been replaced?
Is this recommeded because the plastic stubs will break off in my hand or will they do it on their own (without being touched.)
Everything in the engine looks exceptionally clean since the car was probably detailed by the used car dealer I bought it from. It ran like a champ for 1000 highway miles back to my home. This is an awsome car for the $5300 I payed for it and I want to treat it right (plan to do tran. flush, convert to sythetic oil.... but the radiator thing is a little hard to swallow and seems a little unnecessary in my uneducated opinion)
