SW HATCH STUCK - HELP 900 1995

Help! The rear hatch on my 1995 940 Turbo wagon won't open. The latch seems to be jammed, only allowing the door to open about half an inch. It's not enough space for me to even get a screwdriver or something in there to get the latch to fully release.

Any ideas? I've tried locking the doors, etc., opening it from the inside, but nothing seems to work. Please don't tell me I have to somehow remove the entire rear hatch door to get at the latch.

I'm guessing I'll have to replace the latch once I get the rear hatch open.
