New small tach and mystry wires...

I finally got my small tach for my '88 240 DL and it came with several wires upluged that got me to wondering. It came with a think gray wire, which I have no idea what it goes to. It came with a blue and red striped wire, and I have no idea about that. and then it came with the light ficture that has wires pluged into each prong on the back. One is a gray wire the other is a black wire that has another black wire coming off the crimp to which it is attached to.

My Volvo has a red and White wire which I thought was the sender, but the wires I was sent does not represent that. I heard that if you plug the coil into the wrong thing, there is big troulbe...hmm What is the full story on this?

I was looking under my dash and I found a black wire, a yellow wire and the red and white wire un used, I havent looked to see if there is anything else. Are these going to help me?

I have a + - and a G on the back of the tach if this helps.

Thanks, Nick
