I think I have the solution for both of yr problems:
1) Replace the dome light with a used one. The mechanism that activates the
light when u open the door doesnt work. I had the same problem on my 87 740.
I got a used one for 30.00 from Erie Volvo,upstate N.Y.
2) Replace the door switches that dont work. Either Volvo World or FCP Groton
have them for 7 bucks and change. I also replace 2 of them onb my car.
