I'm looking real seriously at making the disc brake conversion on my '65 544 and have been reading everything I can find. Today I found the reference to the pv-klubben.org site in an earlier posting on the brickboard. It seems to contradict several things I've read on the Bearman site and elsewhere. The Jansson article on the pv-klubben site states that "the reverse valve in the master cylinder has to be removed." Bearman says a PV master cylinder in good condition will work fine and doesn't mention removing a valve. (Come to think of it, though, the piston in the rebuild kit I used did seem to be lacking a little flapper. I wonder if this was the "reverse valve?") Jansson implies that the proportioning valve must be used; Bearman says put it in only if you find you need it. Jansson also recommends adding a power brake booster and using the 122 rear brakes as well, a recommendation I haven't seen elsewhere. I'd like to hear from others who have done the conversion to see whether you modified your master cylinder, added the proportioning valve, added power brakes, or used the 122 rear brakes. Also if you have had any problems, or would do anything differently. Many thanks.
