Strut problem 200

I have had such a hard time with changing the struts--chasing clunks on both sides which I have finally resolved. However my right side strut tower is rubbing inside the wheel well when I turn the wheel. When it is properly aligned the top spring retainer rubs and sticks and then springs loose. This is making the gland nut loosen up alot in no time. If I move the tower a 1/4 inch- loosening the strut mount nuts- it clears the wheel well and it's fine but out of alignment, isnt that correct? Has anyone had this problem and what can you do? I just spent 60 bucks to have it aligned. Would it hurt to move it a 1/4 inch? It was like this before I had it aligned so it was not their fault.
