flathood conversion-hinge question 200 1984

Most of the stuff I'm reading about the impending conversion is telling me to make sure to grab the hinges when I get my flat hood. When I called the guy who has it, I brought it up to him, and he said he's never noticed any difference in the hinges. Now I trust this guy, he's had his shop for like 20 years, and seems to know what he's talking about. He did say that most people don't lubricate their hinges and the bend, and that's why hoods get effed up on some bricks, and I know what he's talking about, cuz mine's that way. So my question is, when I grab the hood and hinges, can I just grab hinges off of another 80's model 240 and make sure to lube em good?
