Hi:

This is a temperature sensor that pushes into a rubber grommet in the radiator tank. It's used for turning on the electric fan in front of the radiator. You won't be able to keep coolant in the radiator without this. When you buy the sensor, buy the grommet too. It gets loose, it happened to me and might have happened here. Try FCPGROTON.COM and VOLVOPARTSDIRECT.COM they work for me.
