Hi all, after getting a scare yesterday, I decided to pitch the temp compensation board, and jump the #1 and #3 pins as written up elsewhere on the board. Thanks all for the info. My spin is this...

Not being skilled with a soldering iron, ok, just downright sloppy with one, I decided to try and find a non-soldering technique. I ended up using very small bullet connectors, specifically, Radio Shack's Molded Nylon Connector Cat. No. 274 - 229. The pack is around 2 bucks, and comes with 9 connectors to be used to connect terminals in a nylon block. I simply crimped the jumper wire into the ends of the terminal connectors, and opened up the other end a bit with a jeweler's screwdriver. By tweaking just a bit, I was able to get a nice friction fit as i pushed the connector onto the pins. worked fine on a short drive this afternoon. we'll see how long the connections/crimps hold up, or if the vibrations will release anything. would be easily reversible if one desired.
