oil cap fix cheap 700 1987

Well, the new factory oil cap gasket, P/N 940096, is only $1 or so.
They do get hard and need periodic renewal. Persistent problems with it blowing out usually mean that something in the breather is plugging up- possibly one of the small vacuum lines. On a Turbo, there is no flame trap, just the housing, so it shouldn't plug, but it can get deposits in the vacuum tube nipple which is quite small. Likewise the intake manifold has small brass nipples for the connections and they plug up.
I always keep a couple of these, and throttle body gaskets, on hand- one or the other of the cars needs regularly. Of course there are 5 cars with the same engine hanging around my house...
