purchase an 86' 245 automatic?

Interior is vinyl, not leather.

Tranny prolly just needs a good fluid flush and the OD relay resoldered.

Was the salvage title recent? If so, then it was prolly just a minor fender-bender ... if that, even. Bust out all the front-end plastics, and to an insurance company, it's totalled because of the price to replace it all with new parts. Also, if there were a lot of parking tickets and/or back fees, it's cheaper to write it off as a salvage, then pay $50 to have it reregistered.

On the flip side, a clean title (and carfax) doesn't assure that it was accident free either.
