Prepairing an engine that has sat for 2 years {1976} 200 1982

This is sort of a repost, but I figure with the new month and all, I'll give this post another shot.

I have a B21F that came out of a '82 245 that I plan on putting in my '76 245 with the blown engine.

Both cars have/had M-46 trannys.

It's my understanding that this engine hasn't been run in over 2 years. Just looking it over there's a lot of crud all over the place. Before I start doing anything, does anyone have any tips/tricks for handling an engine that has been sitting for this long?

Also, the '76 didn't come with the Lambda Sond stuff, but I'd like to hook it up if I could. This would sure make getting through DEQ a lot easier. (It's sure a pain in the ass to get the '77 244 through.) What additional parts am I gonna need to do this?

What are other things I should do with the engine out side of the car? I've read that Belts and seals are never easier to replace then when the engine is outside the car. What should I do with the tranny (since I'm going to pull it along with the dead engine)?


This replacement engine is with out a head, exhaust manifold, and intake manifold, but I plan on taking those parts from the '76. I'm thinking they will bolt up, but I'm not 100% certain... The head on my '80 looks like it's different then the one in the '76.
