amsoil supershift fixed OD in m46 now what? 700 1985

My OD would not engage in warm weather in my 85 760 turbo with manual trans. In cold weather it would engage until the car was driven a while it would not re-engage. At the advice of some on the brickboard I put Amsoil supershift into my trans. I drove 100 miles over the weekend and it engaged every time except 1 or 2 times it tried and eventually slammed in to OD.

My question now is, is this just a quick fix that will eventually lead to me having to replace my trans or will this fix the problem with occasional oil change?
