Volvo original Stereo Wire harness? 200

I have a 1988 Volvo 240 Dl that only has two speakers. I'm replacing an old aftermarket casseste that the PO had installed. From the look's of the harness that connects to the radio, it looks like the Volvo one which someone took and cut the plug off that went into the factory radio and spiced on a harness for the radio that I'm taking out. Does someone know that if the plug that inserts into the original 240 radio is a 9 or 8 pen squarish conncetion? If, so, do you know what years this was used,as I will try to replace it. Just to make sure what I said makes sence, (it's been a long day) If I follow the wire that was connected to my radio, to the point where I can remove it I would find the sqarish connection, I don't know what it looks like at where it would plug to the factory radio.

Secondly, does anyone know how to deal with the commen ground on the front speakers when installing a modern radio?
Thanks again for all of your help!
