I just attempted to pull the fuel pre-pump/sending unit to replcae the rubber connector hose but as always a small repair has mushroomed into a larger problem.

The fuel line metal elbow nipples from the sender unit were so corroded that one broke off ( the larger main fuel line) when I was removing the clamp and hose.

The other hose appears to be heat shrink high pressure poly with a rubber sheath. I could not get this off as it now appears I should have removed it from down below at the main pump/filter. Even so sice the corrosion was so bad I have to replace the entire sending unit. ( note: the small rubber connector hose was split causing the eratic uphill operation)!! But now with a new sender unit can I :

Can I use regular braided fuel line with clamps to replace the thermoplastice connection the the one eblow nipple from the sender ( I think this is the return line)

Has anyone been throuht this before?

The reason for the corrosion failure is lots of winters with salt spray getting up to the area of the sender causing the deterioration.

With a new sender/pre-pump and connector hose the in tank will be OK. I am concerned if regular fuel line will be OK for this to replace the the thermoset and rubber sheaved line.

Any experience and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
