Also, how sure are you that the injectors are firing when the engine is cranking? Pulling the injector rail off, leaving the key on and opening the throttle just test the injectors, not the trigger contacts in the bottom of the distributor. With the fuel rail off have someone crank the car for just a second or two (without touching the throttle) and ensure the injectors are firing.

Double check the timing - it should be firing #1 close to TDC (the mark on the front pulley should indicate that) - to make sure it isn't 180 degrees off make sure the valves on #1 aren't open when it gets the spark. You can usually see those rockers through the oil cap opening - no need to take the valve cover off.
