B-18 crankshaft pulley 444-544

Please forgive the basic nature of the question. I'm 're-learning' skills I may not have had many years ago...

I'm past the point of no return with my B-18 (1967 Duett). Pulled the head off yesterday. I'm working on installation of a new cam shaft. I am *not* pulling the engine out of the car to do this (!) In order to get the timing gear cover plate off I need to remove the crankshaft pulley. What is the best (least invasive, safest) way for me to stabilize the crankshaft so that I can put some torque on the crankshaft bolt? (The manual is a little thin on this topic).

Any other words of wisdom (technique, helpful tools, etc) for this part of the project (cam shaft, timing gears, etc) *sincerely* appreciated.

Many thanks (thanks also to the others who replied to my points/plugs post).

KMS
